About us

Sidecar Learning is committed to student learning and how technology can best support authentic student experiences. We believe all educators should be able to create online, interactive learning experiences for their students. We give educators the power to turn any web content into an engaging and effective lesson.

Sidecar Learning began as an NSF Innovation Corps project through the University of Arizona. This project allowed the team to talk with hundreds of potential customers about their e-learning needs. Later it was funded by a Tech Launch Arizona Asset Development grant which helps advance inventions with market potential. The Sidecar Learning team was also accepted into and completed Y Combinator’s Start Up School.

Jason Dewland

Jason is a co-founder of Sidecar Learning and serves as the CEO. Jason came to this project because of his extensive use of the platform. He has utilized the platform to teach over 3000 student business research skills on a multitude of different platforms. Prior to becoming a librarian, Jason served in the Peace Corps in Macedonia and Ukraine.

Yvonne Mery

Yvonne is a co-founder of Sidecar Learning and serves as the Chief Education Officer. An instructional designer for over ten years, Yvonne has used the platform to develop tutorials for students across skill levels and content areas. She has also designed and implemented online courses in information literacy skills for undergraduate students.

Kevin McLaughlin

Kevin McLaughlin is dedicated to physical/engineering technologies. He brings over 30 years of experience in technology commercialization, working for companies like Motorola, Cray Research, SGI, Cisco Systems and Avid technology. McLaughlin recently served as adjunct lecturer for the UA McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship. He serves as Sidecar Learning’s lead advisor.
